Number one hits me spot on. Especially on the 'traffic bit'. Due to limited budget I'm often forced to deal with events-wise, I tend to take advertising and events projects pro-bono or for small orgs since I'm a sucker for being part of the take offs for tush events, so I get really up the wall thinking how to maximize the possibilities.

It gets even harder when the clients I get are so 'interest-specific' and they're not quite a popular interest so you have to be careful where you do your viral advertising so you still manage to get attention and possible income but not tarnish their reputation.

Ah~ The beauty of outsourcing.

Working as a team or hiring others to do work for you is definitely one sure way to go when you're working online. I've had bosses who outsource and often, they don't pay much but they offer lots of work so I tend to stick it out with them. Mostly rewrite work though.

I can easily whip up 10 rewrites in a day's time without batting an eyelash anyway so I guess that's fine.

Though, on the long term, people will want to get more for what they do and try out the big wild sea to find that bigger opportunity. So native writers end up charging more.

It's an issue really. The whole outsourcing to other countries to save---then quality suffers. Now you have to end up competing with kids willing to cough up impossible quotas of 500 words each for an alarmingly low rate of $30 per package. Wow.

How they do it and everything is beyond me.
